ATA’s finance council juggles 2002 calendar

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — As a cost-cutting measure the National Accounting and Finance Council (NAFC) of the American Trucking Associations has rescheduled and cancelled many conferences for the year.

The NAFC Annual Conference and Exhibit Forum, which was scheduled for June 23-25, in Denver, will be postponed until October. The event will be held in conjunction with ATA’s Management Conference and Exhibition set for Oct. 27-30, at the Marriott Orlando World Center in Orlando, Florida,

In addition, the 2002 NAFC Fall Forum, normally held in October and originally planned for Chicago, has been cancelled.

“NAFC is a council of ATA, which is responding to the current economic downturn by cutting back on expenses for 2002,” says Richard Curtis, NAFC executive director. “NAFC will remain a viable organization within ATA providing valuable services to its many members. However, we have to be responsive to our members who also are facing similar budget cuts.”

NAFC is one of three ATA councils that provide technical information and services to employees of the trucking industry through educational sessions, meetings, forums, newsletters and networking opportunities. NAFC’s members comprise trucking company financial, tax, accounting, risk management and information technology professionals and industry suppliers.
