More temporary shutdowns for Weyerhaeuser mills
KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Weyerhaeuser employees in the B.C. Interior have been hit with yet another blow caused by the U.S.-imposed softwood lumber duties.
The company says more shutdowns are in the pipeline. Most of the shutdowns will last five days, and the company is blaming "poor markets."
The sawmills affected by this latest wave of temporary layoffs include the mills in Princeton, Okanagan Falls, Vavenby and Kamloops.
The Kamloops B Mill will be closed for an additional five days in order to match pulp production with sales, according to the company.
